Occidental Pinot Noir Station Vineyard is a beautifully poised coastal California Pinot Noir that captures the finesse and purity Steve Kistler set out to pursue at Occidental. With its lifted red-fruit profile, floral detail, and remarkable balance, it shows both immediate charm and the depth to age gracefully. This is a wine shaped by the cool Sonoma Coast and by a long-standing belief that some of California’s finest Pinot Noir can come from the edge of the Pacific.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Pinot Noir displays a bright, translucent ruby color that hints at its delicacy. The nose is expressive and refined, opening with pure red aromas of raspberry, rose petals, and crushed strawberries, followed by subtle earthy undertones that add complexity and a sense of place. The palate is exceptionally balanced and impressively graceful, with fresh acidity carrying the wine effortlessly and gentle tannins framing its depth. There is a fine interplay between lifted fruit, floral perfume, and cooler-climate nuance, making it both delicious now and well suited to further development in bottle over the coming years.

Occidental sources fruit from the cool Sonoma Coast, where coastal influence, marine air, and a long growing season help preserve freshness and aromatic clarity. The wine is made exclusively from free-run juice, which contributes to its elegance and finesse, while the region’s temperate conditions support the development of subtle complexity rather than overt ripeness.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs naturally with roast duck, seared salmon, mushroom risotto, herb-roasted chicken, and dishes with earthy elements such as truffles or wild mushrooms. Serve slightly chilled at around 14–16°C and, while decanting is not essential, a short airing may help open the wine if enjoyed young.

Occidental was founded by Steve Kistler, one of California’s most respected winemaking figures, after years of fascination with coastal vineyards and their cooler-climate expression. His conviction that exceptional Pinot Noir could thrive along the Sonoma Coast led to the planting of Occidental Vineyard in 1995, and the winery officially launched in 2011 as a Pinot Noir-focused project. Today, Occidental is regarded as a benchmark producer for refined, site-driven coastal Pinot Noir in California.
