Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha 2000

Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas Vinha Velha 2000 is a compelling Single Quinta Vintage Port from one of the Douro Valley’s most celebrated estates. Drawn from old vines at Quinta de Vargellas, it combines Taylor’s signature elegance and dry, structured power with remarkable depth, complexity, and a distinctly historic sense of place.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Port shows the dark, concentrated character you would expect from a great vintage, with a polished, youthful core. The nose is expressive and layered, offering ripe black fruit, cocoa, chocolate, and subtle mature nuances that unfold beautifully with air. On the palate it is full-bodied yet finely balanced, with lush fruit wrapped around a firm, elegant structure. There is impressive length and energy here, with the sweetness held in check by Taylor’s trademark dryness and mineral drive. While it is already highly enjoyable, this is a Port with a long future ahead and will continue to gain complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Quinta de Vargellas, a historic single estate in the Douro Valley known for producing ports of exceptional structure and finesse. The old-vine material from Vinha Velha brings concentration, complexity, and aromatic depth, while the region’s steep slopes and demanding terroir contribute to the wine’s intensity and balance. The wine was aged in used French oak vats, which allows the fruit and structure to remain at the forefront while preserving purity and freshness.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this Port slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, to keep its freshness and aromatic detail in focus. It is excellent with blue cheeses, dark chocolate desserts, or simply enjoyed on its own after dinner. Decanting is recommended, especially given its age and the likelihood of sediment; a couple of hours of air can help it open beautifully.
