Taylor’s Very Old Single Harvest Port 1970 is a rare and elegant expression of one exceptional harvest, matured for decades in oak before release. Produced by one of the Douro’s most respected family houses, it offers remarkable depth, complexity, and polish, with the added allure of being drawn from Taylor’s celebrated reserves of old cask-aged Ports. Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a pale mahogany-brown colour, hinting at its long cask ageing and graceful development. The nose is layered and refined, with aromas of cedar, cigar leaf, citrus peel, marzipan, walnuts, coffee, plums, and warm spices such as black pepper and cardamom. The palate is concentrated and full, yet remarkably silky and composed. Notes of coffee, caramel, walnut, and candied orange peel unfold with excellent balance and freshness, supported by a lively acidity that keeps the wine vibrant despite its age. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent. Ready to drink now, it is not a Port for further bottle ageing, but one to enjoy at its peak.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes for Taylor’s Ports come from the Douro Valley, one of the world’s great mountain wine regions, where steep terraced vineyards and hot, dry summers produce fruit of great intensity and structure. Taylor’s owns three key estates in the valley—Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita, and Quinta do Junco—which supply the house with grapes, including Touriga Nacional for this release. The wine is made as a single-harvest Port and then matured for many years in seasoned oak casks until fully ready for bottling, allowing it to develop its deep tertiary complexity and smooth texture.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 12–14°C, to bring out both the aromatics and the freshness. It pairs beautifully with nut-based desserts, crème brûlée, strawberries, figs, and almonds, and also makes a superb after-dinner wine on its own. Decanting is generally not necessary; this style is bottled at full maturity and ready to enjoy immediately after opening.
