Taylor’s Vintage Port 1997 is a benchmark example of why this historic house is regarded as one of the great names in port. Exceptionally concentrated, structured, and finely balanced, it combines deep fruit intensity with the classic power and longevity that define Taylor’s top Vintage Ports.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a saturated deep ruby to black-purple colour, hinting at its immense concentration. The nose is rich and layered, opening with blueberries, blackberries, violets, and licorice, followed by darker notes of eucalyptus, spice, and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, this is a full-bodied and highly structured Port with impressive purity, silky tannins, and a long, persistent finish. The wine is powerful yet polished, with multiple layers of dark fruit and spice unfolding over time. While already highly expressive, it has outstanding aging potential and should develop beautifully for decades, likely 50 years or more under the right conditions.

Viininvalmistus
Taylor’s sources its Vintage Ports from its own top estates in the Douro Valley, including Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita, and Quinta do Junco, all classified in the prestigious Group A category. These vineyards benefit from varied microclimates and the steep, schist-rich terraces of the Douro, which help produce grapes of great concentration, depth, and complexity. The fruit is typically harvested by hand, with careful selection, and vinified using traditional port methods before long maturation in bottle after release.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 16–18°C, in large red wine glasses to allow the aromas to open fully. It is superb on its own, but also pairs beautifully with rich desserts, blue cheese, dark chocolate, or even a bold red pepper steak. Decanting is strongly recommended, especially if the bottle has been aged for some time, to separate any sediment and let the wine show at its best.
