Taylor's Vintage Port 2017

Taylor’s Vintage Port 2017 is a truly remarkable release from one of the Douro’s most historic houses, delivering the depth, precision, and power collectors expect from top-tier vintage port. With only a handful of Vintage Ports declared since 1900, Taylor’s has once again produced a wine built for greatness, combining intense fruit, impressive structure, and extraordinary long-term aging potential.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby core with a purple-tinged rim, hinting at both youth and concentration. The nose is rich and layered, opening with violets, dark forest berries, eucalyptus, and subtle licorice notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful and tightly structured, yet beautifully focused, with remarkable depth of flavor and a long, persistent finish. It is a Vintage Port of real intensity and balance, and while it is already expressive, it is clearly built for the long haul, with an aging potential of 50 to 75 years or more under ideal conditions.

Viininvalmistus
Taylor’s sources its grapes from its own prized estates in the Douro Valley, including Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita, and Quinta do Junco, whose soils are classified in the top Group A category. The varying microclimates across these vineyards contribute to the complexity and structure that define Taylor’s Vintage Ports. The 2017 was produced as a field blend and matured for around 20 months in wood before bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve slightly chilled in large red wine glasses to allow the aromas to open up and the structure to soften. It can be enjoyed on its own, but it also pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes such as pepper steak, especially with a generous sauce, or with dark chocolate desserts and mature hard cheeses. Decanting is highly recommended, particularly if serving young, to help the wine reveal its full aromatic complexity.
