Taylor's Vintage Port 2017 Magnum

Taylor’s Vintage Port 2017 Magnum is a truly impressive release from one of the Douro’s most respected houses. In the glass, the 2017 shows a deep ruby-red color with a nearly purple rim, hinting at its youth and power. The nose is rich and layered, opening with violet, dark forest berries, eucalyptus, and a touch of licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and intensely concentrated, with impressive depth of flavor, vivid fruit, and the firm structure that defines great Vintage Port. Despite its immediate appeal, this wine is built for the long haul. The balance of fruit, power, and structure suggests extraordinary aging potential, with the ability to evolve gracefully for 50 to 75 years or more in the right cellar conditions.

Taylor’s sources its Vintage Port from prime vineyard holdings in the Douro Valley, where the estate’s own vineyards include Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita, and Quinta do Junco. These sites benefit from diverse microclimates and group A classifications, the highest quality tier in the region, helping produce wines with depth, power, and complexity. The 2017 Vintage Port was crafted as a field blend and aged for around 20 months in wood before bottling, preserving freshness while building structure and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve slightly chilled, ideally in large red wine glasses to allow the aromatics to open fully. This Vintage Port can be enjoyed on its own, but it also pairs beautifully with rich, savory dishes such as a robust red pepper steak, as well as blue cheese or dark chocolate desserts. Decanting is recommended, especially when young, to separate sediment and give the wine time to reveal its full aromatic range.
