Vega Sicilia Alion 2020

Alion 2020 is a polished and highly concentrated red from Bodegas Alion, the sister project of the iconic Vega Sicilia. Made from Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo, it comes from carefully selected parcels in Ribera del Duero and reflects the house style of very low yields, depth, and precision. The result is a wine with real structure and age-worthiness, built to show both power and finesse.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Alion 2020 presents a deep, intense color that signals its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, combining ripe dark fruit with elegant oak nuances, spice, and a refined, sensual character. On the palate, it is powerful yet balanced, with impressive density, ripe tannins, and a long, structured finish. Vega Sicilia describes the vintage as potent and concentrated with an elegant side, and it has the backbone to develop beautifully over time. This is a wine with significant aging potential, capable of maturing gracefully for up to 20 years from the harvest.

Viininvalmistus
Alion is sourced from selected vineyards in Ribera del Duero, with Tempranillo vines between 25 and 30 years old. The region’s continental climate and varied soils help shape a wine of concentration and freshness, while the very low yields ensure strong flavor intensity. Harvest takes place earlier than for Vega Sicilia’s wines, and the wine is matured for 16 months in new oak barrels to add structure, complexity, and polish.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served with richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, grilled beef, game, or slow-braised meats, as well as aged Manchego or other mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially when the wine is young, to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
