Weingut Hiedler Langenloiser Riesling Urgestein 2022

Weingut Hiedler’s Langenloiser Riesling Urgestein 2022 is a vivid, mineral-driven expression of Riesling from the steep vineyards north of the historic town of Langenlois, in the heart of Kamptal. Hand-harvested from challenging slopes and crafted with a restrained approach in stainless steel, it captures the purity and precision that have made Austrian Riesling a benchmark for freshness and finesse.

Makuprofiili
Bright and shimmering in the glass, this Riesling opens with a lifted, aromatic nose of mirabelle, lemon, nectarine, and green tea leaves. The palate is clean and focused, showing peach, mandarin, and citrus layered over crisp acidity and a subtle salty mineral edge. The wine feels energetic and precise rather than heavy, with a refreshing finish that invites another sip. While delicious now for its youthful fruit and tension, it should also age gracefully for 3–5 years, gaining extra depth and complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from some of the excellent sites north of Langenlois, where the steep vineyard slopes demand careful hand harvesting, carried out in late September. After picking, the grapes were fully destemmed before pressing, with a very restrained use of sulfur to keep the wine as pure and unadorned as possible. Fermentation and maturation took place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the wine’s bright fruit, freshness, and crystalline mineral character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Riesling is a natural match for fresh seafood, sushi, grilled white fish, salads with citrus or herbs, and lightly spiced Asian dishes. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its precision and freshness. Decanting is not necessary, though a short aeration can help the aromatics open up if enjoyed young.
