Weingut Hiedler’s Langenloiser Riesling Urgestein 2023 is a vivid, finely cut expression of Kamptal Riesling, sourced from steep vineyards north of the historic wine town of Langenlois. Hand-harvested and crafted with a minimalist approach, it captures the cool precision and mineral edge that have made this style a benchmark for Austrian white wine.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a bright, pale straw color that hints at its freshness. The nose is lifted and expressive, with mirabelle, lemon, nectarine, and green tea notes unfolding over a clean mineral backdrop. The palate is crisp and focused, offering flavors of peach, mandarin, and lemon held together by vibrant acidity and a subtle salty minerality. It feels energetic and precise, with enough balance and structure to age gracefully for around 3–5 years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from steep vineyard sites around Langenlois in Kamptal, where the region’s cool climate and primary rock soils give Riesling its signature tension and mineral drive. Because of the incline, harvesting is done by hand, with the fruit picked in late September at optimal ripeness. After destemming and pressing, the must is handled gently with minimal sulfur and fermented/matured in stainless steel to preserve purity, freshness, and site expression.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Riesling is a natural match for oysters, sushi, sashimi, freshwater fish, lightly spiced Asian dishes, goat’s cheese, and spring vegetables. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary—though a short aeration can help if the wine is very young.
