Chanin Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 is a beautifully poised expression of Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir, shaped by the cool climate and limestone-rich soils of one of California’s most respected vineyards. With its restrained use of new oak and a focus on purity rather than manipulation, it captures both the elegance of the site and the precision of Gavin Chanin’s winemaking. Sanford & Benedict is a historic vineyard, and in this vintage it delivers a Pinot Noir that feels deeply authentic and remarkably complete.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a vibrant ruby-red color with plenty of brightness and finesse. The nose opens with blackberry, cherry, rose petals, black tea, lavender, and a subtle hint of cinnamon, creating an aromatic profile that is both floral and spicy. On the palate, red cherry leads the way, followed by cranberry, plum, crushed currants, mint, and nuanced spice. The wine is lifted by fresh acidity and carried through to a long, mineral-driven finish that reflects the vineyard’s limestone influence. It is already impressive now, but it also has the structure and balance to age gracefully for around 10 years.

Viininvalmistus
Sanford & Benedict Vineyard benefits from a cool-growing climate and limestone-rich soils, conditions that are particularly well suited to high-quality Pinot Noir. The vines are approximately 50 years old, lending depth and concentration to the fruit. In 2021, the wine was aged with 15% new oak and no stem inclusion, allowing the vineyard character to remain front and center while preserving clarity, texture, and elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs wonderfully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, herb-roasted chicken, or dishes featuring earthy vegetables and light game. Serve it slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, to highlight its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is optional, but a short decant of 20–30 minutes can help the wine खुल up if enjoyed young.
