Colpetrone Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito is a richly expressive dessert wine from Umbria, crafted in a convenient half-bottle format that makes it ideal for special occasions or intimate pairings. Made from the rare Sagrantino grape, it captures one of central Italy’s most distinctive winemaking traditions, where naturally sweet, concentrated wines have long been prized for their depth and longevity.

In the glass, this passito typically shows a deep ruby to garnet hue with vivid intensity. The nose is complex and inviting, often offering notes of dried black cherry, fig, plum, cocoa, spice, and a subtle floral edge, with hints of balsamic nuance and toasted warmth as it opens. The palate is lush and concentrated, balancing natural sweetness with the grape’s signature structure and firm tannic grip. Flavors of raisin, dark berries, candied fruit, and baking spice unfold into a long, layered finish. Thanks to Sagrantino’s remarkable intensity and acidity, it has excellent aging potential, developing greater complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
Produced in the Montefalco area of Umbria, the wine reflects the region’s warm days, cool nights, and clay-limestone soils, which help Sagrantino achieve both ripeness and freshness. For passito-style wines, the grapes are typically harvested by hand at full maturity and then dried to concentrate sugars, aromas, and texture before vinification. Fermentation is carefully managed to preserve balance and aromatic richness, followed by maturation that softens the wine while maintaining its hallmark structure.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wonderful match for dry pastries, almond biscotti, dark chocolate desserts, blue cheese, or a simple plate of aged hard cheese. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a медitative after-dinner wine. Serve slightly cool, around 14–16°C, and decanting is optional but can help the aromas fully open if the wine is still youthful.
