Quilt Napa Valley Chardonnay 2022

Quilt Napa Valley Chardonnay comes from the cooler, fog-influenced Carneros District, one of the most distinctive Chardonnay sites in Napa Valley. This gives the wine a refreshing balance of richness and tension, with a flinty mineral edge that sets it apart from more opulent Californian styles. Behind it is Joe Wagner, whose family name is deeply rooted in California wine history and whose wines have built a strong reputation for quality and value.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a pale yellow color with a golden shimmer. The nose is generous and layered, opening with yellow pear, Fuji apple, lemon, honey, and a subtle hint of caramel. There is also a distinctly mineral, slightly flinty character that reflects its Carneros origin. On the palate, it is fresh yet full-bodied, with flavors of citrus peel, nectarine, ripe pear, yellow apple, kiwi, and pineapple. A creamy texture from oak aging adds depth and polish without overpowering the fruit. This Chardonnay is enjoyable now for its immediacy and richness, but it should also hold well over the next few years if stored properly.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes exclusively from vineyards in Carneros, where cooler temperatures, morning fog, and clay-rich soils create ideal conditions for Chardonnay with natural freshness and mineral drive. The grapes were harvested for optimal ripeness, then whole-cluster pressed to preserve purity and finesse. The juice was matured for 15 months in French oak barrels, with 70% new oak, giving the wine its creamy texture, subtle spice, and integrated layers of complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay works beautifully with roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled lobster, seared scallops, or richer fish dishes like halibut with butter sauce. It also pairs well with aged cheeses and dishes that benefit from a wine with both freshness and texture. Serve it lightly chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help if opened very young.
