Abreu Madrona Ranch Proprietary Red 2012 is one of California’s most compelling single-vineyard Cabernet-based wines, shaped by the extraordinary complexity of Madrona Ranch in the hills of Napa Valley. The vineyard’s history stretches back to the 1980s, when David Abreu first developed the site from the ground up and discovered its exceptional potential.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine is deeply colored and concentrated, reflecting its formidable structure and ripeness. The nose is intensely expressive, with blackberry, crème de cassis, blackcurrant, licorice, graphite, and hints of black truffle unfolding in layers. On the palate, it is lavish and full-bodied, with extraordinary extract, depth, and a dense core of dark fruit framed by powerful, finely knit tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Petit Verdot, adding aromatic lift and structure. This is a wine with serious aging potential, built to evolve beautifully over many years and gain even greater complexity with cellaring.

Madrona Ranch is defined by dramatic elevation changes, varied aspects, and an unusually complex mix of soils, including volcanic Aiken soils, white tuff, clay, and rocky subsoils. This challenging terroir is treated with great precision through multiple selective harvest passes, allowing each parcel and soil type to reach optimal ripeness at its own pace. The result is a meticulously assembled vineyard wine that showcases the site’s natural diversity rather than masking it.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs, venison, or truffle-accented mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting is strongly recommended, ideally for 1–3 hours, to allow the wine’s layered aromatics and powerful tannins to open fully.
