Abreu Thorevilos Proprietary Red 2010

Abreu Thorevilos Proprietary Red 2010 is a striking Napa Valley red from one of California’s most celebrated vineyard sites. Sourced from the distinctive Thorevilos vineyard, this wine stands out for its exceptional depth, complexity, and sense of place, with a Burgundian-like single-site identity expressed through a powerful Bordeaux-inspired blend. Though it sits outside any official AVA, Thorevilos has long been admired for producing wines of extraordinary character and consistently elite critical acclaim.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, inky color that hints at its concentration and intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, offering dark berry fruit, cassis, graphite, violet, and savory spice, with a mineral edge that reflects the vineyard’s unique geology. On the palate, this is a full-bodied and luxurious red with remarkable depth, freshness, and finely textured tannins. The blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot creates a wine of great structure and aromatic complexity, with a long, persistent finish. It is beautifully balanced now, but its concentration and tannic framework suggest excellent aging potential over many years.

Viininvalmistus
Thorevilos lies between St. Helena and Howell Mountain at around 250 meters above sea level, in a site that combines white, easily weathered tuff minerals with orange-brown stones. The vineyard’s complex soils and forested surroundings contribute to its singular identity and refined structure. Harvesting and vinification details are not provided, but the site is clearly farmed with a focus on preserving the vineyard’s natural intensity and expression.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, roasted lamb, or game meats, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best expression of aroma and structure. Decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open fully and show its full aromatic range and texture.
