Abreu Thorevilos Proprietary Red 2013 is a striking, ultra-premium California red from one of the state’s most celebrated sites. Though it sits outside any official AVA, Thorevilos has earned an almost cult-like reputation for its precision, depth, and power, producing wines that are routinely discussed among the very best in Napa Valley. The 2013 vintage, a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, reflects the site’s singular character and the meticulous work of David Abreu and his team.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine is deeply colored, almost inky, hinting at its concentration and intensity. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with dark berry fruit, cassis, plum, graphite, spice, and subtle savory notes unfolding with air. On the palate, Thorevilos 2013 is full-bodied and remarkably structured, yet polished and refined. The wine combines immense concentration with freshness and velvet-textured tannins, delivering a seamless, multi-dimensional mouthfeel that seems to evolve continuously. Built for the long haul, it has outstanding aging potential and should continue to gain nuance and complexity over many years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
Thorevilos lies between St. Helena and Howell Mountain at around 250 meters elevation, in a site David Abreu has known since childhood. The vineyard’s terroir is exceptionally distinctive, with a complex mix of white, easily weathered tuff minerals and orange-brown pebbles, creating a rare and compelling geological profile. Although it falls outside an official AVA, the site has a clear identity of its own, and the fruit is farmed with obsessive attention to detail before being vinified with a focus on purity, balance, and minimal manipulation.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for rich, savory dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, venison, or lamb with rosemary and garlic. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatics and layered structure to fully open.

Tuottaja
Abreu Vineyards was founded by David Abreu, one of Napa Valley’s most respected vineyard managers and growers, whose obsessive attention to detail has helped define some of the region’s greatest wines.
