Albert Bichot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2013 is a classic expression of one of Burgundy’s most prized Pinot Noir sites, combining depth, finesse, and the sensual richness that defines great Gevrey-Chambertin. Crafted from vines in the Grand Cru vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, it offers both pedigree and precision, with a style that reflects the vineyard’s historic reputation for producing wines of remarkable elegance and complexity.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Grand Cru typically shows a bright ruby to garnet hue, hinting at its graceful evolution. The nose opens with vivid aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, and violet, before gradually unfolding into more layered notes of spice, subtle earth, and lightly animal nuances with age.
On the palate, it brings together power, elegance, and seductive texture in a finely balanced whole. The fruit remains fresh and precise, supported by refined tannins and excellent structure, while the finish is long and expressive. Given a few more years in the cellar, the wine should gain greater complexity and reveal deeper savoury and spicy dimensions while retaining its signature freshness.
Viininvalmistus
The vines for this Grand Cru are planted in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the most celebrated terroirs in the Côte de Nuits, where limestone-rich soils help shape wines with structure, finesse, and aromatic intensity. Harvesting and vinification are handled with a light touch to preserve the character of the vineyard, and the wine is moved by gravity to cellar to minimise intervention. It is then matured in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, using a carefully selected mix of French oak from sources such as Tronçais and Allier, with toast levels chosen to add subtle complexity without overpowering the wine’s natural expression.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roasted duck, game birds, lamb, beef tenderloin, truffle dishes, or mushroom-based cuisine that can complement its layered aromatics and refined structure. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if the bottle is enjoyed in its youth to allow the wine to open fully and soften its tannins.
Tuottaja
Albert Bichot is one of Burgundy’s most respected négociant-domaine producers, with a history dating back to 1831. Under the leadership of Albéric Bichot since 1996, the family has expanded its holdings across some of the region’s finest terroirs in Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and Beaujolais, now totalling more than 100 hectares of vines. The house is known for its minimal-intervention approach in the cellar, allowing each wine to reflect its village and terroir with clarity, and its collection of domains has helped cement its status as a major name in premium Burgundy.
