Albert Bichot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 is a beautifully poised Burgundy from one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most esteemed Grand Cru sites. Made from Pinot Noir, it combines power, elegance, and a sensuous texture, while still showing the precision and freshness that define top-tier Côte de Nuits wines. With a pedigree like this, it’s a wine that speaks clearly of both place and producer.

In the glass, this Grand Cru shows the kind of deep, polished color you expect from a serious Pinot Noir, with a bright core and graceful intensity. The nose opens with red berry aromas of raspberry and redcurrant, lifted by violet and floral notes, before gradually unfolding into more savory, animal, and spicy nuances with age. On the palate, it is remarkably balanced: concentrated yet refined, with a full body, ultra-fine tannins, and a long, seamless finish. The wine’s combination of purity, focus, and freshness suggests excellent aging potential, and it will reward cellaring by gaining complexity, depth, and tertiary character over the years.

Viininvalmistus
The vines for Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru are planted in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the most celebrated terroirs in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. Albert Bichot works with great respect for site expression, using gentle handling and gravity transfer to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The wine is aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, with the choice of oak origin and toast level adjusted by vintage to bring subtle complexity without overpowering the wine’s natural elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that shines with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, beef tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or game birds like pheasant. It also pairs well with truffle-infused dishes and mature, earthy cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opened young to allow the wine to fully express its aromatic depth and structure.

Albert Bichot is one of Burgundy’s most respected names, with a history dating back to 1831 and six generations of family ownership. Under Albéric Bichot, who has led the company since 1996, the estate has expanded to include six exceptional domaines across Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, and Beaujolais, totaling more than 100 hectares of vines. The producer is widely recognized for its strong commitment to terroir-driven winemaking, minimal intervention, and its ability to craft wines that faithfully reflect their village and vineyard origins.
