Albert Bichot Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2020 is a refined expression of Pinot Noir from one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most prestigious climats. Combining depth, elegance, and sensual texture, it captures the special reputation of the Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits while preserving the freshness and precision that define great Burgundy.

In the glass, this Grand Cru shows the poised brilliance expected of top-tier Burgundy, with an aromatic profile led by raspberry, redcurrant, and violet. With a little bottle age, those bright red-fruit notes are likely to evolve toward more complex layers of spice, game, and subtle earthy nuances. On the palate, the wine is both powerful and graceful, offering a dense yet finely tuned structure. James Suckling notes its very complex nose, savory spice character, and bold finish, while emphasizing how precise and deeply structured it remains. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, and it will only gain in complexity over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The vines for this Grand Cru are planted in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, where limestone-rich soils and a cool Burgundian climate give Pinot Noir its signature tension, perfume, and structure. Harvesting is carried out with care, and the wine is vinified as naturally and as gently as possible to preserve the character of the vineyard and village. After vinification, it is moved by gravity and aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, with a careful selection of coopers and toast levels to add subtle complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a superb match for classic Burgundy fare such as roast duck, squab, veal, game birds, mushroom dishes, or beef tenderloin. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the wine’s aromatic detail and structure to fully show. Decanting is recommended, especially when young, to open the bouquet and help the wine unfold in the glass.
