In the glass, this Grand Cru shows a deep ruby hue with subtle garnet reflections that hint at its maturity and depth. The nose is layered and expressive, offering dark cherry, ripe plum, violet, spice, and a pronounced earthy complexity, with notes of forest floor, truffle, and a delicate mineral edge adding further nuance. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet refined, with silky, seamlessly integrated tannins and vibrant acidity that give the wine lift and precision. The fruit is generous but disciplined, unfolding in waves of spice, savory earth, and finely etched minerality on a long, persistent finish. While already compelling, it has the structure and balance to age gracefully for another 15 to 20 years, developing even greater aromatic depth over time.

Clos de Bèze is one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most distinguished Grand Cru sites, with limestone-rich soils and a cool Burgundian climate that favor Pinot Noir of concentration, finesse, and aromatic complexity. The 2010 growing season was cool but well balanced, allowing for slow ripening and excellent natural acidity, while careful harvesting helped ensure fruit of exceptional quality. Vinification at Domaine Armand Rousseau is known for its restrained, terroir-driven approach, with an emphasis on preserving purity of fruit, elegance, and site expression through precise cellar work and traditional élevage.

This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, beef tenderloin, veal, or game birds, as well as earthy preparations featuring wild mushrooms or truffle. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 to 2 hours if drinking now to allow the bouquet to fully open and the structure to soften slightly.
