Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques 1er Cru 2013 is a benchmark Burgundy that captures both the finesse of Pinot Noir and the pedigree of one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most revered vineyards. Clos St. Jacques is widely regarded as one of the village’s finest Premier Cru sites, often producing wines of Grand Cru-level complexity, and this 2013 vintage reflects that reputation beautifully.

In the glass, the wine shows the classic elegance of mature Burgundian Pinot Noir, with a bright, refined color and a graceful sense of transparency. The nose is expressive and layered, offering red cherry, raspberry, floral notes, gentle spice, and a subtle mineral lift that adds precision and depth. On the palate, it is poised and silky, with finely woven tannins, vivid acidity, and a supple, elegant texture. The finish is long and nuanced, lingering with red fruit, spice, and a faint earthy/mineral complexity. While already highly enjoyable, it also has excellent aging potential and should continue to evolve over the next 10–15 years.

Clos St. Jacques is a prized Premier Cru vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, known for its complex terroir and ability to produce wines of remarkable depth and refinement. The 2013 growing season was cool, helping preserve freshness and aromatic detail while allowing the grapes to develop strong structure and complexity. The wine was crafted with Domaine Armand Rousseau’s hallmark precision, with vinification aimed at preserving purity of fruit, elegant texture, and the distinct character of the vineyard.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, quail, game birds, mushroom risotto, truffle dishes, and fine cuts of veal or lamb. Serve at 16–18°C to allow the aromatics and structure to open gradually, and decant gently if serving young to help release its layers of perfume and flavor.
