Armand Rousseau Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Clos des Ruchottes 2014 is a beautifully poised Burgundy from one of the most revered parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it combines the precision, finesse, and mineral depth that have made Domaine Armand Rousseau a benchmark for Grand Cru red Burgundy.

In the glass, it shows a bright, light ruby hue that hints at its elegance rather than sheer power. The nose is layered and refined, opening with red cherry and raspberry, then moving into spice, flowers, and a subtle earthy note of forest floor. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins and vibrant acidity that give the wine remarkable balance and lift. Pure red fruit, delicate spice, and a distinct mineral thread carry through to a long, harmonious finish. While already expressive, this wine has excellent aging potential and will continue to gain complexity over the coming years, developing more tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, and truffle.

This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, quail, game birds, veal, or mushroom-based plates like wild mushroom risotto or truffle pasta. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 hour if opening young, though older bottles should be decanted more gently or just before serving to preserve their nuance.
