Arnot-Roberts Syrah, Sonoma Coast 2023

Arnot-Roberts Sonoma Coast Syrah 2023 is a beautifully composed, site-driven red that shows why this producer has become such a benchmark for cool-climate California wine. Sourced from four standout Sonoma Coast vineyards—Clary Ranch, Que Syrah, Baker Lane, and Solas—it combines precision, freshness, and a distinctly Rhône-like savory edge while keeping the fruit pure and lifted.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Syrah shows a deep, polished color that hints at concentration without heaviness. The nose is highly aromatic and layered, with notes of sage, lavender, wild blackberry, and warm spice, alongside a cool mineral streak that gives the wine real definition. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and energetic, with bright, crisp acidity and moderate tannins framing flavors of ripe raspberry, blackberry, peppery meat, herbs, and salty licorice. The finish is long and refined, leaving a savory, mineral impression that speaks clearly of place. While already expressive, it should also reward short-to-medium-term cellaring as the structure and aromatic complexity continue to unfold.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from four acclaimed Sonoma Coast sites, each contributing a different expression of the region’s cool maritime terroir. The grapes were harvested separately to preserve vineyard character, then spontaneously fermented with whole clusters before blending and aging in used French oak barrels. The choice of neutral oak helps maintain freshness and transparency, allowing the wine’s saline, herbal, and mineral nuances to remain front and center.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Ideal with grilled lamb, roast duck, herb-crusted pork, mushroom dishes, or Mediterranean-style fare with rosemary, thyme, and olives. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider a brief decant of 30–60 minutes if opening young, as this can help the aromatic complexity broaden in the glass.
