Artadi Valdegines 2017

Artadi Valdegines 2017 is a polished, terroir-driven Tempranillo from one of Rioja Alavesa’s most prized hillside sites. Sourced from the east-facing Valdeginés vineyard in Laguardia, it combines precision, freshness, and impressive aging potential, making it a compelling example of modern single-vineyard Rioja with classic depth.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows an intense, concentrated color that hints at its structure and ripeness. The nose is expressive and refined, with bright red and dark fruit notes of cherry, plum, and blackberry layered over limestone minerality, liquorice, and a subtle eucalyptus lift. On the palate, it is firm yet elegant, with a precise, linear style and well-defined tannins that give the wine real character. The 2017 vintage already offers plenty of appeal, but it is built for the cellar and should develop further complexity over the next 8–12 years or more under proper storage conditions.

Viininvalmistus
Valdeginés comes from a high-altitude vineyard at around 600 meters above sea level in Laguardia, Rioja Alavesa, where the east-facing slope helps preserve freshness while allowing slow, even ripening. The soils of calcareous clay with sandy deposits contribute to the wine’s mineral profile and refined structure. Produced from 100% Tempranillo, the wine reflects the careful site selection and focused viticulture associated with Artadi’s single-vineyard approach.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent partner for grilled meats, game with berry-based sauces, slow-braised dishes, and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if opening young to help the wine relax and reveal its aromatics and texture.
