Aston Estate Pinot Noir 2020

Aston Estate Pinot Noir 2020 is a richly styled, deeply expressive Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, crafted by acclaimed winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Made exclusively with Dijon clones from Aston Estate’s own vineyard in Annapolis, close to the Pacific coast, it offers a more powerful and structured expression than the lighter Pinot styles Brown is often associated with. The estate was founded in 2001 with Fred Schrader and has since become a showcase for Brown’s precision and pedigree in California winemaking.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a deep, dark color that hints at its weight and concentration. The nose is layered and inviting, with aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, red currant, blood orange, bay leaf, and star anise, giving it both generous fruit and aromatic complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and plush, with ripe dark fruit at the core and a bright freshness that keeps everything in balance. There is an elegant tension beneath the richness, adding lift and finesse to the wine’s more substantial style. It should age gracefully for several years, developing greater depth and nuance over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Aston Estate’s own vineyard in the Annapolis region of Sonoma County, an area strongly influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, where cool coastal conditions help preserve freshness and aromatic precision. The vineyard’s terroir supports a more concentrated Pinot Noir style, and Thomas Rivers Brown works solely with Dijon clones here to build structure and depth. The result is a wine shaped by careful vineyard selection and a focused, expressive vinification approach.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with dishes that can match its depth and richness, such as roast duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, herb-crusted pork, or game bird. Serve at around 15–16°C for the best balance of fruit and freshness. Decanting for 20–30 minutes is recommended, especially if enjoyed young, to allow the wine’s aromatics and texture to open fully.
