Bacio Divino Vagabond 2012

Bacio Divino Vagabond 2012 is a bold, California Syrah with real personality—powerful, unpolished in the best possible way, and full of dark-fruited intensity. Made entirely from Syrah sourced from Caldwell Vineyard in Carneros, it combines muscular structure with a free-spirited charm that makes it stand out among premium New World reds. Winemaker Kirk Venge has crafted a wine that feels both deeply expressive and already perfectly in its stride.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Syrah shows a deep, dark core typical of a concentrated California red. The nose is rich and layered, opening with blackcurrant and blueberry before moving into smoke, grilled meat, black pepper, licorice, eucalyptus, and a subtle hint of camphor. The palate is full-bodied and firmly structured, with dark berry fruit backed by savory, almost wild complexity. Its power is matched by freshness and spice, giving the wine a confident, direct style with plenty of length. It is drinking beautifully now and should continue to age well over the next several years, gaining even more nuance and integration.

This wine comes from Caldwell Vineyard in Carneros, a cool-climate part of California known for producing Syrah with both ripeness and structure. The terroir benefits from the moderating influence of the nearby bay, helping preserve freshness while allowing full flavor development. The wine is made from 100% Syrah, with the site and careful cellar work clearly intended to emphasize concentration, savory complexity, and a strong varietal profile.

This is an ideal match for grilled or roasted meats, especially beef, lamb, venison, or smoky barbecue dishes. It also works well with peppered steak, braised short ribs, charcuterie, and hearty mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking now to let the wine fully open and soften.
