Beaune Greves Vigne l'Enfant Jesus, Monopole 2017 magnum

Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is one of the most celebrated Premier Cru wines in Beaune, and this 2017 magnum format gives it even greater cellaring appeal. Produced by the historic Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils from a prized monopole parcel, it combines Burgundy’s hallmark finesse with depth, concentration, and remarkable aging potential.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine shows a deep ruby hue with a polished, inviting sheen. The nose is expressive and layered, with smoky cherry, blackberry, dark cherry, wild strawberry, incense, spice, and a touch of baking chocolate and crushed stone. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, supple, and velvety, with fine-grained tannins and bright, succulent acidity giving the wine both lift and structure. There is impressive concentration at the core, followed by a long, harmonious finish that suggests excellent development over time. In magnum, the wine should evolve especially gracefully and can be enjoyed now with decanting or cellared for many years.

Viininvalmistus
The wine comes from the 3.91-hectare Les Grèves parcel in Beaune, situated on the mid-slope and known for producing finely structured Pinot Noir with depth and precision. The vineyard is a monopole owned by Bouchard Père & Fils, and the site is currently undergoing piecemeal replanting to preserve quality and character. Vinification is carried out with a modern, gravity-fed approach in the domaine’s underground winery, designed to handle the fruit gently while respecting each parcel’s individuality.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roast duck, game birds, veal, mushroom dishes, braised beef, and aged cheeses such as Époisses or Comté. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, especially in magnum, to let the aromatics and texture fully unfold.
