Bergström Old Stones Chardonnay 2023 is a vivid expression of Willamette Valley Chardonnay, offering the clarity, mineral drive, and finesse that have made Oregon one of the most exciting cool-climate regions for the variety. Created as the elegant little sister to the estate’s iconic Sigrid Chardonnay, it combines precision with subtle richness, drawing on biodynamically farmed parcels across Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Old Stones Chardonnay shows a bright, luminous color that hints at its freshness and energy. The nose opens with lemon zest, crushed oyster shell, and a delicate lift of jasmine, followed by notes of white stone fruit and a restrained touch of brioche. On the palate, it is precise and vibrant, with flavors of white pineapple, citrus oil, and a mouthwatering saline edge that adds tension and length. A refined texture, shaped by élevage in both oak and steel, brings a subtle layer of depth without overshadowing the wine’s crisp core. The finish is long, clean, and marked by citrus and chalky minerality. This is a Chardonnay that should drink beautifully now, while also developing additional complexity over the next few years.

The fruit comes from biodynamically cultivated parcels in Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge, and Chehalem Mountains, where marine and volcanic soils contribute a pronounced mineral character and natural freshness. The region’s cool climate helps preserve acidity and aromatic definition, allowing the vineyards to produce grapes with both intensity and restraint. The wine is aged in a combination of oak and stainless steel, a choice that balances texture and nuance with purity of fruit and a focused, linear profile.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Old Stones Chardonnay pairs especially well with fresh fish, shellfish, mushrooms, nuts, and creamy cheeses. Serve it at around 10°C to highlight its crisp, aromatic character and mineral precision. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short splash in the glass can help open the wine if served very young.
