Blank Canvas Escaroth Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020

Blank Canvas Escaroth Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020 is a beautifully concentrated Marlborough Pinot Noir from the Taylor Pass, crafted from sustainably farmed, dry-grown vines. With exceptionally low yields from 20-year-old vines, this wine delivers remarkable intensity, purity, and a level of complexity that has drawn comparisons to top Burgundy.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a graceful ruby-red hue. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with aromas of ripe red cherries, blackberries, red plums, crushed rosemary, and dried spices. The palate is silky yet powerful, combining generous red fruit with savory spice, impressive depth, and a long, lingering finish. It has the structure and concentration to shine now, but will also age beautifully over the next 10 years.

Viininvalmistus
The Escaroth Vineyard sits in Taylor Pass, Marlborough, where the sustainably managed vines are not irrigated, encouraging the roots to work deeply into the terroir. The vineyard’s old Pinot Noir vines produce very small crops, resulting in fruit of exceptional flavor intensity. Winemaker Matt Thomsen hand-harvests the grapes and ferments them without destemming before aging the wine for a year in small French oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir is an excellent match for duck breast, roast chicken, lamb, mushroom dishes, and game birds, as well as earthy vegetarian plates. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 14–16°C, and consider a short decant if opening it young to help the aromas unfold.
