Blank Canvas Settlement Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020 is a striking Marlborough Pinot Noir that combines freshness with depth and impressive intensity. Sourced from the organically farmed Settlement Vineyard in Omaka Valley and crafted by winemaker Matt Thomson, it has quickly earned a following for its dark-fruited, energetic style. Though a relatively young bottling, it already shows the kind of concentration and character that make this a standout New Zealand Pinot Noir.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a notably dark-hued Pinot Noir, hinting at its concentrated style. The nose opens with dark cherries and plums, layered with orange peel, roses, and a subtle touch of wood. On the palate, it comes in with real drive and power, led by dark fruit, black tea, and gentle spice. Despite its intensity, the wine remains fresh and poised rather than heavy. It has the structure and depth to age gracefully over the next few years, gaining further complexity as it develops.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Settlement Vineyard in Omaka Valley, Marlborough, where the vines are farmed according to organic principles. The small berries and clusters create a wine with exceptional density and concentration, reflecting both the site and the growing conditions. Harvest is carried out by hand, and 65% of the bunches are fermented whole-cluster before maturation in traditional French oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir works beautifully with roast duck, mushroom dishes, game birds, lamb, or earthy vegetarian plates such as beetroot and lentil tart. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 14-16°C, and consider decanting for 20-30 minutes if you want the aromatics to open up fully.
