Crafted largely from Pinot Noir with a significant Chardonnay component, it combines power, depth, and precision, while its traditional oak-fermentation and cork-aged style give it remarkable complexity and cellaring potential.

In the glass, La Grande Année 2012 typically shows a refined golden hue with a lively, persistent mousse. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with ripe citrus, baked apple, and white stone fruit before unfolding into notes of toasted brioche, hazelnut, honey, spice, and subtle oak. On the palate, it is broad and structured, with Pinot Noir bringing impressive weight, concentration, and a fine mineral edge. The texture is creamy yet focused, balancing freshness with richness, and the finish is long, savory, and tightly woven. This is a Champagne built to evolve beautifully over many years, gaining even more nuance and depth with bottle age.

Viininvalmistus
La Grande Année is made only in outstanding vintages, using grapes sourced exclusively from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. Pinot Noir comes mainly from Aÿ and Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims, while Chardonnay is drawn from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs, where the chalky terroir helps preserve freshness and elegance. Bollinger vinifies the wine entirely in small oak barrels, averaging around 20 years of age, and the first fermentation takes place in its own cellar-owned casks. The wine is then aged under cork rather than crown cap, a traditional method that encourages greater complexity and texture. Every step is carried out by hand, from harvest through bottling, reflecting Bollinger’s meticulous approach to Champagne making.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Champagne pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast poultry, truffle risotto, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses like Comté. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to preserve its energy and aromatic detail.
