Bollinger R.D. Champagne 1996 is one of the house’s most celebrated vintage cuvées, revered for its remarkable balance of power, precision, and depth. Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Champagne shows a rich golden hue with a fine, persistent mousse, hinting at its long development in bottle. The nose is layered and complex, opening with ripe apple, citrus peel, toasted brioche, nuts, and subtle oxidative depth, all carried by a refined mineral edge.
The palate is powerful yet poised, with Pinot Noir bringing concentration and breadth, while Chardonnay lends tension, elegance, and structure. Creamy in texture and deeply expressive, it unfolds with notes of baked orchard fruit, roasted hazelnut, biscuit, and saline minerality, finishing long and precise. Viininvalmistus
Bollinger’s vineyards are rooted in the Champagne region’s chalky soils, where cool conditions and excellent drainage help preserve freshness while developing intensity and structure. The grapes for this cuvée were harvested with care at optimal ripeness, then vinified with Bollinger’s traditional use of small oak barrels for the first fermentation, a method that adds depth, texture, and complexity. The wine was then aged under cork in the cellars for at least eight years before disgorgement, allowing it to build remarkable complexity while preserving vitality.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a Champagne for refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, caviar, roast poultry, truffle risotto, or aged Comté and Parmesan. It is best served well chilled at around 8–10°C, and while it does not require extensive decanting, a short aeration in the glass can help reveal its many layers.
