Bollinger R.D. Champagne 2004 is a remarkable vintage cuvée that showcases the house’s signature depth, precision, and devotion to long aging. Made primarily from Pinot Noir with a significant portion of Chardonnay, and sourced exclusively from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, it combines power, elegance, and exceptional complexity. The R.D. name stands for “Recently Disgorged,” reflecting Bollinger’s celebrated philosophy of extended cellar maturation followed by a late disgorgement to preserve freshness.

In the glass, this Extra Brut Champagne shows a refined, golden hue with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is highly expressive, offering layers of ripe orchard fruit, citrus zest, toasted brioche, honey, roasted nuts, and warming spice, underpinned by a distinct mineral note.
On the palate, it is intense and textured, with flavours of dried fruit, lemon peel, brioche, and subtle salinity balanced by vibrant acidity and a remarkably long finish. The extended lees aging has brought depth and complexity, while the recent disgorgement keeps the wine energetic and precise. It has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed now or cellared for further development over several years.
Viininvalmistus
Bollinger R.D. 2004 is crafted from grapes grown in Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards across Champagne, where the chalky soils and cool climate contribute freshness, structure, and mineral tension. The 2004 vintage benefited from favorable weather conditions, allowing the fruit to reach excellent ripeness while retaining balance and acidity. Fermentation takes place in small oak barrels, adding subtle complexity and breadth to the wine, and the Champagne then matures for at least 12 years on its lees in Bollinger’s historic cellars before being disgorged shortly before release.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a Champagne that pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast poultry, truffle risotto, mature Comté, or even lightly seasoned sashimi. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to allow its complexity to open gradually. Decanting is not necessary, but letting it breathe briefly in the glass can help reveal its deeper aromatic layers.
