Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon is one of California’s most iconic and sought-after red wines, known for its rich, powerful style and unmistakable generosity. Produced by Chuck Wagner and his family since 1972, it has become a benchmark for plush Napa Valley Cabernet, made from grapes left to hang longer on the vine for deeper concentration and intensity. The 2013 vintage offers all the hallmarks that have made Caymus famous: bold fruit, seamless texture, and impressive depth.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Cabernet shows a deep purple color that borders on black, signaling its concentration and richness. The nose is expressive and layered, with crème de cassis, violets, chocolate, lilac, anise, and hints of cardamom rising from the glass. The palate is full and opulent, delivering dark fruit, dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, mocha, leather, cigar box, vanilla, and sweet licorice. Despite its power, the wine remains smooth and inviting, finishing with a warm, spicy length that lingers beautifully. It can be enjoyed now, but it also has the structure and depth to age gracefully for many years—potentially up to 20.

Viininvalmistus
Caymus is known for a ripe, fruit-driven style shaped by warm California growing conditions and a deliberate focus on extended hang time, allowing the grapes to develop exceptional concentration before harvest. This approach comes with some risk, as later harvesting can be vulnerable to early weather changes, but it is central to the wine’s depth and signature richness. The result is a Cabernet Sauvignon with intense color, full body, and a polished, highly expressive profile.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for equally flavorful dishes such as ribeye steak, roast lamb, braised short ribs, grilled venison, or aged hard cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C for the best expression of its aromas and texture. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking now, especially to let the wine open fully and soften its already supple structure.
