Ceritas Trout Gulch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 is a striking example of cool-climate California Pinot Noir, shaped by the windswept edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains just 5.6 km from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard’s marine influence, sandy soils, and slow ripening bring remarkable freshness, precision, and site-driven character to the wine. Trout Gulch Vineyard, planted in 1980, has long been valued for its depth of rootedness and ability to express this singular coastal terroir.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a medium ruby hue, hinting at both delicacy and concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with wild raspberries, fresh pine, rose petals, and a subtle saline note reminiscent of ocean air. The palate is medium-bodied and finely structured, with ripe yet crisp tannins and a chalky, mineral texture that gives the wine real tension and poise. Subtle umami nuances emerge on the finish, adding depth and complexity. While highly enjoyable now, this Pinot Noir has the concentration and balance to evolve gracefully over the next 10 to 15 years.

Viininvalmistus
Trout Gulch Vineyard sits in the southernmost part of the Santa Cruz Mountains, where cool temperatures and marine-influenced, sandy soils encourage a long growing season and preserve natural acidity. The vines are deeply rooted in marine-derived subsoils, which contribute to the wine’s mineral precision and distinctive sense of place. Fermentation includes around 50% whole clusters, and the wine is aged for 16 months in approximately 25% new French oak barrels on the lees, adding texture and complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck, venison, lamb, or earthy mushroom dishes, where its acidity and structure can complement richer flavors. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 14–16°C, to let the aromatics and freshness shine. Decanting is optional but can be helpful if opening young, allowing the wine to reveal its full aromatic range and layered texture.
