Ceritas Zephyr Chardonnay 2022

Ceritas Zephyr Chardonnay 2022 is a refined Sonoma Coast Chardonnay that captures the purity and precision Ceritas is known for. Sourced from the Zephyr vineyard between Freestone Valley and Sebastopol and shaped by a hands-off approach in the cellar, it offers a striking balance of fruit, freshness, and mineral tension. This is a wine that speaks clearly of place, with the kind of understated elegance that has made Ceritas one of California’s most respected producers.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a bright, pale straw color. The nose is layered and expressive, with notes of yellow flowers, lime zest, and spiced pear leading into more subtle hints of citrus and orchard fruit. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a supple, textured feel. Flavors of lemon, apple, and juicy nectarine are lifted by a lightly saline edge and vibrant acidity, giving the wine a focused, mineral-driven finish. Green tea and herbs linger on the long aftertaste. While enjoyable now, it has the structure to develop beautifully over the next 5-10 years.

Viininvalmistus
Zephyr Vineyard sits between Freestone Valley and Sebastopol on Sonoma Coast and is planted on sandstone soils, a terroir that contributes to the wine’s tension and minerality. The Chardonnay grapes are hand-harvested, then spontaneously fermented in old oak barrels with no malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 12 months on fine lees without stirring, a method that preserves freshness, clarity, and a pure expression of site.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with grilled fish, shellfish, chicken with herbs, or a creamy mushroom risotto. Serve it chilled, ideally around 10-12°C, to best highlight its brightness and layered texture. Decanting is not necessary, though a brief opening in the glass can help reveal its aromatic complexity.
