G d’Estournel 2020 is the more approachable expression of Château Cos d’Estournel’s signature style, crafted from its own dedicated vineyard in the Médoc, just north of Saint-Estèphe. First released in 2003, it offers the class and pedigree of a great Bordeaux estate, with a softer, more immediate charm that makes it especially appealing in youth.

In the glass, this is a deep, classic Bordeaux red with the structure and polish you would expect from a top Médoc producer. The nose is likely to show ripe blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, graphite, and subtle hints of spice and oak, while the palate is framed by Cabernet Sauvignon’s backbone and Merlot’s roundness, giving a wine that feels elegant, balanced, and accessible. The finish should be refined and persistent, with fresh tannins and enough concentration to suggest several years of graceful aging ahead. While enjoyable relatively early, it has the depth and structure to develop further complexity with bottle age, softening into a more layered and harmonious wine over time.

G d’Estournel comes from a small vineyard site in Goulée, planted in the Médoc terroir north of Saint-Estèphe, where gravelly soils and a cooler maritime influence help shape a wine with freshness, balance, and Cabernet Sauvignon character. The red vines are planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, and the fruit is harvested from this dedicated parcel before being vinified by the experienced team at Château Cos d’Estournel, ensuring the estate’s hallmark precision and style are maintained.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, grilled ribeye, or rich mushroom dishes. Serve it at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes if drinking young to allow the bouquet and texture to open fully.
