Château Gruaud Larose 2019 is a classic Saint-Julien Bordeaux that combines power, finesse, and impressive aging potential. Built around Cabernet Sauvignon and supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, it comes from one of the Médoc’s most respected Second Growth estates, known for producing wines with structure, depth, and remarkable charm. First established in 1725, the château has long been admired for wines that age gracefully while showing a distinctive elegance in youth.

In the glass, the 2019 vintage is deeply colored and inviting, with a dark, youthful core that hints at concentration. The bouquet unfolds with wild berries, plum, licorice, pencil shavings, subtle earth, and a touch of capsicum, all framed by refined oak. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, seamless, and polished, with ripe fruit, powdery tannins, and a lively line of acidity that keeps everything fresh and balanced. There is real breadth and structure here, but the wine remains elegant rather than heavy. This is a wine with excellent cellaring potential and should continue to develop beautifully over many years.

The grapes for Château Gruaud Larose 2019 come from the Saint-Julien appellation, where gravel and clay soils on the plateau create the ideal conditions for richly textured yet balanced Bordeaux. The estate’s vineyards benefit from south-facing exposure, and the vines are notably old, with an average age of over 46 years and some more than 80 years old. The property has also taken steps toward organic farming since 2019 and uses biodynamic practices such as herbal teas and trace minerals to support vine health. The wine is crafted with a high proportion of new oak, carefully integrated to preserve the estate’s signature structure and elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent partner for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, duck breast, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C for the best expression of its aromatics and structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open fully.
