Château Lafite Rothschild 2001

Château Lafite Rothschild 2001 is a beautifully poised Bordeaux from one of the most revered names in wine. Elegant rather than forceful, it showcases the classic Lafite style: remarkable refinement, layered complexity, and an unmistakable sense of place from Pauillac in the Médoc.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep plum-purple core with impressive concentration. The nose is marked by aromatic cedar, lead pencil, sweet red and black currants, and ripe plum, all lifted by the finesse that makes Lafite so distinctive. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, precise, and polished, with intense but understated fruit, supple tannins, and a long, composed finish. The 2001 vintage already offers excellent drinking, yet it still has the structure and balance to continue developing gracefully over time.

Château Lafite Rothschild is situated in Pauillac in Bordeaux’s Médoc region, where gravelly soils and a temperate Atlantic-influenced climate help produce wines of great perfume, freshness, and longevity. The estate works with strict yield control, manual harvesting, and hand work throughout the year, while using minimal chemical intervention and careful organic fertilisation to support old vines and preserve vineyard health. The estate’s traditional vinification is designed to protect purity and elegance, resulting in a wine that reflects both the terroir and the precision of the cellar.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is an excellent match for fine lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, truffle dishes, or slow-braised game, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently for about 1–2 hours if drinking now, especially to let the aromatics fully open.
