Carruades de Lafite 1999 is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, offering a refined taste of one of Bordeaux’s most legendary estates. Crafted in the elegant, unmistakably Lafite style, it combines structure, finesse, and a sense of history that makes it especially appealing to collectors and lovers of classic Pauillac wines.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby core with subtle garnet development at the rim, hinting at its age. The nose is highly expressive and classically Bordeaux, with graphite, lead pencil, blackcurrant, and cedar framing a polished, understated aroma profile. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully composed, with sweet, glycerol-like texture, ripe dark fruit, and Lafite’s signature elegance carrying through the finish. There is length, freshness, and a quiet intensity that gives the wine real presence. While already enjoyable, it still has the structure and balance to evolve gracefully with further bottle age.

Viininvalmistus
Carruades de Lafite is sourced from the same prestigious Pauillac terroir as the Grand Vin, where deep gravel soils and the cooling influence of the Médoc help produce wines of precision and longevity. The estate follows traditional, meticulous vineyard practices, including strict yield control, manual harvesting, and careful handwork throughout the year. Vinification is carried out with the same attention to detail as the Grand Vin, though with a selection aimed at preserving the estate’s hallmark elegance and accessibility in its second label.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, game birds, or a classic mushroom risotto. It is best served at 16–18°C, and decanting for about an hour is recommended if opened now, especially to allow its aromatic complexity to unfold. For collectors, it can also be cellared further, where it will continue to develop tertiary notes of cedar, tobacco, and earth.
