Carruades de Lafite 2000 is the second wine of Château Lafite Rothschild, offering a more approachable expression of one of Bordeaux’s most iconic names while still carrying the unmistakable Lafite elegance. Built for longevity and refinement, this vintage combines precision, finesse, and depth in a way that reflects the estate’s long-standing reputation at the very top of Pauillac.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-garnet colour with plenty of life still in the core. The nose is classic Lafite in style: refined aromas of black cherry, cassis, cedar, and graphite, with subtle hints of pencil shavings, dried herbs, and lightly toasted oak. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and beautifully composed, with polished tannins, bright fruit, and a sense of purity that keeps everything focused and graceful. The finish is long and understated, showing the structure and balance expected from a serious Bordeaux, and it still has excellent ageing potential thanks to its freshness, concentration, and fine tannic frame.

Viininvalmistus
Carruades de Lafite comes from the vineyards of Pauillac in Bordeaux’s Médoc, where gravelly soils and a cool Atlantic-influenced climate help produce wines with structure, aromatic precision, and longevity. The blend for this vintage is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot; the wine was aged in French oak, with only a modest proportion of new barrels to preserve its elegance and fruit purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to allow the aromatics and texture to fully open, and consider decanting for an hour or two if drinking now, as this will help the wine show its full complexity.
