Château Lafleur 1995 is one of Pomerol’s most sought-after wines, produced in tiny quantities from just 4.5 hectares of prized vineyard land. Crafted primarily from Cabernet Franc with Merlot, it reflects the unmistakable character of this legendary estate: rare, precise, and built for greatness. Long regarded as one of Bordeaux’s most collectible wines, Lafleur has a reputation that places it among the very finest names in the region.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, mature color that still carries vibrancy after years of aging. The bouquet is strikingly complex, with blackberry, black truffle, smoke, bacon fat, hot gravel, and a subtle lift of wild mint emerging with air. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet impressively layered, with refined tannins, tertiary dark fruit, and a long, confident finish. This is a wine at or near its plateau of maturity, but one with the structure and pedigree to continue evolving beautifully for years.

Viininvalmistus
Château Lafleur sits on the central Pomerol plateau, surrounded by some of the most celebrated names in Bordeaux, including Pétrus, La Fleur-Pétrus, Vieux Château Certan, and Hosanna. The estate’s small, single-block vineyard was founded in 1872 and is unusual in Pomerol for its near-equal planting of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Fermentation is carried out traditionally in temperature-controlled stainless steel, while malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, a method that adds aromatic depth and complexity to the final wine.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served with refined dishes such as roasted lamb, duck breast, beef tenderloin, game birds, or mushroom-based cuisine. Its earthy notes also make it an excellent match for truffle dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently for about 1–2 hours if possible to allow the wine’s aromatic layers to fully open, especially if the bottle has been resting for many years.

Château Lafleur was established by Henri Greloud in 1872 and has remained one of Pomerol’s most revered estates ever since. For decades, its tiny production and exceptional quality have made it one of the rarest and most in-demand wines in Bordeaux, often selling out before release. Under the stewardship of Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau since the 1980s, and now with the next generation involved, the estate has continued to uphold its reputation for precision, depth, and longevity. Robert Parker famously described Lafleur as one of the most distinctive, exotic, and greatest wines in the world.
