Château Lafleur 1998

Château Lafleur 1998 is a rare and highly sought-after Pomerol from one of Bordeaux’s most revered estates. Built around a remarkably small 4.5-hectare vineyard and known for its unusual emphasis on Cabernet Franc, this is a wine of intensity, precision, and exceptional aging potential. Makuprofiili
In the glass, the 1998 Château Lafleur shows a deep ruby-purple color, still impressively dense after years in bottle. The bouquet opens with sweet kirsch, blackberry liqueur, violets, and a lifted mineral edge that gives the wine both freshness and definition. On the palate, it is full-bodied, concentrated, and richly textured, with firm tannins that frame the wine’s depth rather than overpower it. Beneath the structure lies remarkable purity and intensity, with the Cabernet Franc lending aromatic complexity and a refined, earthy nuance. This is a classic long-distance Lafleur, built for extended cellaring and still capable of evolving beautifully over time.

Viininvalmistus
Château Lafleur sits in the heart of the Pomerol plateau, surrounded by some of the region’s most famous neighbors, and benefits from the complex soils that help shape its layered, mineral style. The estate was founded in 1872 by Henri Greloud and remains a tiny single-block vineyard, an uncommon feature in Pomerol. The wine is made in nearly equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Unlike many estates in the Moueix stable, malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, a choice that adds aromatic depth and finesse to the finished wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine best enjoyed with refined, richly flavored dishes such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, truffle risotto, or game birds. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking now, as the wine’s structure and complexity benefit from aeration.
