Château Lafleur 2000

Château Lafleur 2000 is one of Pomerol’s most coveted wines, drawn from just 4.5 hectares in the heart of the plateau, surrounded by some of Bordeaux’s most legendary names. Remarkably distinctive for the appellation, it is built on a near-equal blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, giving it both depth and aromatic precision. With its rarity, prestige, and extraordinary ageing capacity, it has long ranked among the most sought-after wines in Bordeaux.

Makuprofiili
The 2000 vintage shows a dense ruby-purple colour with remarkable intensity and freshness for its age. On the nose, it offers layers of kirsch, liquorice, floral nuances, and a subtle hint of truffle, all carried by a deep, concentrated perfume. The palate is powerful yet refined, with striking richness, firm but polished tannins, and a multi-dimensional core of dark fruit, spice, and mineral depth. Despite its concentration, the wine remains elegant and precise, with a long finish and enormous ageing potential; this is a Lafleur built for the long haul and capable of evolving beautifully for decades.

Viininvalmistus
Château Lafleur sits on the central Pomerol plateau, where the gravelly and clay-rich soils give the wine its signature complexity and structure. The grapes are traditionally fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, while malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel, a method used to enhance aromatic expression and depth. The estate’s approach focuses on expressing the unique character of each vintage while preserving balance, purity, and the finely tuned tannins for which Lafleur is known.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for refined dishes such as filet of beef, roast lamb, duck breast, or game with truffle and mushroom accents. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant carefully to allow the wine to open; for a mature vintage like 2000, a gentle decant is recommended to separate sediment and preserve the wine’s delicate aromas.

Château Lafleur was founded in 1872 by Henri Greloud, who assembled the estate as a single 4.5-hectare parcel in the heart of Pomerol. Since 1985, Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau have guided the winemaking, later becoming sole owners in 2002, and today the next generation continues the estate’s exacting standards. Lafleur is widely regarded as one of the most exceptional and distinctive wines in Pomerol, with a reputation for rarity, precision, and world-class ageing potential.
