Château Léoville Barton 2003 in magnum format is a striking example of Saint-Julien at its most powerful and ageworthy. Owned by the Barton family for generations, this Second Growth Bordeaux combines classic Cabernet-driven structure with impressive depth, richness, and complexity. The 2003 vintage gained particular acclaim for its intensity and breadth, making this a compelling bottle for collectors and serious Bordeaux lovers alike.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows an opaque plum-ruby color, reflecting both its concentration and the warm 2003 vintage. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with notes of blackcurrant, forest floor, cedar, and dark spice, unfolding with impressive precision. On the palate, it is full-bodied, ripe, and powerful, with a youthful energy that still carries a firm Bordeaux backbone. The fruit is deep and richly textured, supported by fine-grained tannins and excellent length. This is a wine with serious aging potential, and in magnum format it will develop even more slowly, promising many years of graceful evolution.

Viininvalmistus
Léoville Barton is located in the heart of Saint-Julien, facing the Gironde estuary on gravel-rich soils over clay subsoil. This terroir is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon and helps regulate climatic variation, while the estate’s old vines contribute concentration and depth. The vineyards are traditionally planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and a small proportion of Cabernet Franc, and the grapes are harvested with quality in mind before being vinified in the classic Bordeaux manner to preserve structure, purity, and elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for roast lamb, beef Wellington, grilled ribeye, venison, or slow-braised game dishes, as well as hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C. Decanting is strongly recommended, especially for a young magnum like this, to allow the wine to open fully and reveal its layered aromatics and polished tannins.

Tuottaja
Château Léoville Barton has been in the Barton family since the 1820s, making it one of the oldest continuously family-owned classified growth estates in Bordeaux. Classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 classification, the château is known for producing Saint-Julien wines with a notably masculine, Pauillac-like profile: structured, deep, and built for aging. Today, the estate is led by Lilian Barton, representing the 9th generation of the family, and remains one of the most respected names in the Médoc.
