Château Léoville Poyferré 2021 is a finely tuned Saint-Julien that shows how precision and experience can elevate a challenging vintage. Crafted from the classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it combines depth, finesse, and impressive ageing potential in a cooler year.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine presents a deep, polished ruby colour. The nose opens with elegant aromas of dark berries, boysenberry, eucalyptus, and a hint of incense, gradually unfolding into darker nuances of chocolate and toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a dense, well-shaped structure and youthful, sweet tannins that carry through to a long finish. Flavours of dark plum and blackberry are layered with notes of tobacco, pencil lead, and a subtle mineral edge. While it already offers plenty of pleasure, this is a wine that will reward cellaring over the next 10–15 years.

Viininvalmistus
Sourced from the gravelly terroirs of Saint-Julien, the 2021 vintage reflects the estate’s careful work in a year marked by cooler conditions and greater demand for precision in the vineyard. The blend is built around Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, harvested with attention to phenolic ripeness. Vinification is carried out with the aim of preserving freshness, structure, and aromatic detail, followed by ageing in oak to add polish and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it at 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking young, to allow the aromas to open and the tannins to soften.
