Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré 2022 is the second wine of Château Léoville Poyferré, offering a polished introduction to one of Saint-Julien’s most respected estates. Made from younger vines and selected parcels that do not go into the Grand Vin, it still reflects the château’s meticulous winemaking style and elegant Bordeaux identity. In a generous and structured 2022 vintage, it captures both concentration and finesse in a very appealing way.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby color that hints at its concentration. The nose opens with ripe blackberry and mulberry, layered with spice and a subtle touch of cedar, giving the wine a classic Left Bank profile with a contemporary richness. The palate is full-bodied and balanced, with firm but finely polished tannins supporting a core of dark fruit and savory nuance. The finish is long and compact, with enough structure to suggest several years of positive development in bottle. While already expressive, it should gain added complexity with short to medium-term aging.

Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré 2022 comes from Saint-Julien in Bordeaux, where gravelly soils and a warm Atlantic-influenced climate help Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot ripen with depth and precision. The wine is sourced from younger vines and parcels reserved outside the Grand Vin selection, but it benefits from the same careful vineyard management and cellar standards. The 2022 vintage was marked by a hot, dry growing season, resulting in concentrated berries and a wine with notable structure and intensity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted or grilled red meats, lamb, beef tenderloin, and dishes with rich sauces, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if drinking young to help the aromas open and the tannins soften.
