Château Malartic Lagraviere Pessac-Leognan 2022

Château Malartic-Lagravière is one of the most highly regarded estates in Pessac-Léognan, known for crafting wines that combine power with remarkable finesse. The 2022 red blend captures the character of the appellation beautifully, with a dry, elegant finish and the kind of structure that has long made this château a benchmark in Bordeaux.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with a dense, almost plum-toned core. The nose is intensely aromatic, offering cassis, blackberry, and ripe plum layered with notes of cocoa, leather, tobacco, and a subtle graphite-like mineral edge. On the palate, this is a wine with real depth and presence. The tannins are firm yet polished, the texture is concentrated and generous, and the fresh acidity brings lift and balance to the dark fruit and savory spice. The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of fruit, oak spice, and mineral nuance. Enjoyable now with air, it also has excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the gravelly terroirs of Pessac-Léognan, where the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc blend thrives under the influence of Bordeaux’s maritime climate. Harvesting is done by hand, followed by strict sorting to ensure only the healthiest, most perfectly ripe fruit is selected. Vinification is carried out parcel by parcel in temperature-controlled vats, with a mix of wooden and stainless-steel tanks, before the wine is matured in French oak barrels for 18 to 20 months, including around 60% new oak to add depth and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game, and richly flavored mushroom dishes. It also works well with hard cheeses and dishes featuring truffle or herbs. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially if drinking young, to allow the wine’s aromatics and tannins to open fully.
