Château Marquis d'Alesme 2019

Château Marquis d’Alesme 2019 is a polished and expressive Margaux that combines historic pedigree with a thoroughly modern revival. Since the estate’s major restoration was completed in 2015, this small 15-hectare property has firmly established itself among the top names of Margaux, producing wines with remarkable depth, elegance, and concentration.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby-purple color, hinting at its ripeness and intensity. The nose is layered and inviting, with dark cherries, blackberries, mulberries, violets, cedar, leafy herbs, truffle, and a generous note of oak spice. On the palate, it is rich and fleshy, yet remains finely balanced, with polished tannins, concentrated dark fruit, and a long, structured finish. The style is both elegant and powerful, and while it can be enjoyed relatively early, it should also develop beautifully over the next 15–20 years.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from old vines averaging around 40 years of age, planted on the prized lieu-dit Les Terrasses de Margaux. The terroir is marked by well-draining gravel over subsoils of sand, limestone, and silica, which help shape the wine’s finesse and energy. Vinification is carried out in a semi-traditional manner using a combination of oak and cement, followed by 18 months of aging in barrel, with 50% new oak and the first three months on lees to build texture and complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Margaux is an excellent match for roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or truffle-infused dishes, as well as aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best expression of its aromatics and structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine to open up and show its full depth.

Château Marquis d’Alesme has roots dating back to 1585, making it one of the historic estates of Margaux. After Hubert Perrodo acquired the property in 2006, a major restoration project was launched, and following his untimely death in 2007, the estate was taken over by his daughter. Under the guidance of winemaker Marjolaine de Coninck, the château has risen quickly in stature and is now recognized for producing some of the most compelling wines in the appellation.
