The 1995 shows a deep, opaque purple hue, hinting at the concentration still present in the glass. On the nose, it opens with sweet, toasty aromas of blackcurrant, chocolate, and subtle cedar notes, gradually revealing more savory, mature nuances with air. The palate is fleshy and medium to full-bodied, with richness wrapped around firm but polished tannins. Blackcurrant, dark plum, and toasted spice carry through to a long finish, while the wine’s balance and structure suggest it is drinking beautifully now, with the ability to hold further complexity over time.

Pichon Baron’s vineyards in Pauillac are shaped by Bordeaux’s gravelly terroir, which naturally favors Cabernet Sauvignon and helps produce wines with structure, freshness, and aromatic precision. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, with careful plot-by-plot selection based on vine age, grape variety, and ripeness, ensuring only the best fruit enters the cellar. Vinification includes a long maceration and fermentation to build color, tannin, and aroma, followed by malolactic fermentation and élevage in barrel, with only the finest lots reserved for the Grand Vin.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, ribeye, game birds, or duck with a rich sauce, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for around one to two hours if enjoyed now, especially to allow the mature aromas and structure to open fully.

Château Pichon Longueville Baron traces its history back to 1689 and became one of Bordeaux’s great names after the estate was divided in the 19th century, following Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville’s death. Classified as a Second Growth in 1855, the château regained major prestige in the 1980s after being acquired by AXA, with Jean-Michel Cazes leading a major renaissance through investment in the vineyard and cellar. Today, Pichon Baron is widely recognized as one of Pauillac’s benchmark estates, regularly producing wines of exceptional depth and distinction.
