Château Troplong Mondot 2005 is a remarkable Saint-Émilion from one of the Right Bank’s most celebrated estates. Built around a powerful Merlot core and elevated by a prestigious 100-point score from Robert Parker, it combines richness, precision, and depth in a wine that reflects both the exceptional vintage and the estate’s rise to the top tier of Bordeaux.

In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dense purple color that still speaks of remarkable youthfulness. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, white chocolate, subtle truffle, and a restrained touch of oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully textured, offering impressive purity and richness with multiple layers unfolding steadily. The structure is supple yet serious, giving the wine the balance to age gracefully for decades. While already compelling, it will continue to evolve and gain complexity with further bottle age.

Château Troplong Mondot sits on the hillsides of Saint-Émilion, where its elevated position and varied vineyard exposures contribute to ripe, structured wines with impressive concentration. The estate has long focused on quality improvements in both vineyard and cellar, including biodiversity initiatives, partial organic farming, optically sorted fruit, and micro-fermentation in 600-liter barrels to refine blending options. The 2005 vintage is primarily Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with vinification aimed at maximizing precision, texture, and depth.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for dishes with richness and depth, such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, truffle-infused risotto, or mushroom-based cuisine. Serve at 16–18°C. Decanting is recommended, especially if enjoyed now, to allow the wine to open gradually and show its full aromatic complexity.

Founded in 1745, Château Troplong Mondot is one of the largest estates in Saint-Émilion and has played an important role in the region’s modern renaissance. The Valette family transformed the estate from 1936 onward, with Christine Valette and Xavier Pariente especially instrumental in elevating its reputation through major investment and a clear quality vision. Their efforts culminated in the château’s promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classé B in 2006, a status it retained in the 2012 revision, and the estate is also known today for its Michelin-starred hospitality and strong commitment to biodiversity.
